BL.BMC047. ISBN M720038612. This work is a serious attempt to depict in music, the thoughts contained in Psalm 46. Often referred to as "Luter's Psalm," as it is thought to be the genesis of Matin Luther's most well-known Hymn. "Ein' feste Burg". A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Two main themes run through Psalm. The strength, steadfastness and security found in God in times of trouble. And the river of God's grace that engenders peace. These two themes are presented ni musical terms throughout the work and should require little elaboration here. The opening, unison concert Bb is a unifying motif used consistently. other motifs are developed during the work and present adequate opportunity for soloists. While the work does not treat the Psalm literally in a line by line fashion, it does endeavour to give an overview of its content and intent.
