When it was possible to celebrate the Catholic Mass in the German language as well, Bertold Hummel wrote his motet Ehre sei Gott for mixed four-part choir. The text, full of contrasts, is redesigned â“ sentence by sentence â“ with new musical ideas. In doing so, he reveals his extraordinary ability to write easy-to-sing music of high quality which delights choirs and listeners alike. The six-minute piece was premiered at the Cathedral of Wurzburg. The present new edition also contains a singable translation in English.
