This single movement piece (13min 40sec) for orchestra was developed from my original �all-electronic� piece composed in 1999 using Passport Encore software. The latter was converted to a midi file and then into Sibelius. The piece developed into a protest concerning mans inhumanity to man which we see all too often, substantially through the continual media coverage that now seems to pervade the planet. The question is whether the human race, in its entirety, will ever succeed in creating a truly peaceful world? Comments appear in the score at suitable locations to indicate my thoughts, suggesting the current mood of the piece. A good rendition is achievable using an external hardware GS standard midi sound generator (eg Roland Sound Canvas), whose resulting audio output signals should be directed to a HI-FI sound system. Alternatively play the .mp3 file, making suitable adjustments to your Windows Media Player (Graphics equalizer, TruBass and WOW etc). There are a few soprano drop-outs, probably due to the occasional simultaneous sounding of up to 28 notes. This problem takes the edge off the intended full force of the choir�s chanting climax. Of course this would not happen with a live performance. Devices such as Creative S/W Synth, SBLive! Midi Synth and Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth do not yield satisfactory results.
